The GMC Savana passenger van comes in mid-duty 2500 Series and heavy-duty 3500 Series models. There are also regular (135-inch) and extended (155-inch) wheelbase versions, with seating space for eight, 12 or 15 people. There are three different engines offered in the Savana vans. Most models are equipped with either a 4.3L V6 that makes 276 horsepower and 298 lb.-ft of torque or a 6.6L V8 making 401 horsepower and 464 lb.-ft. The Savana has true body-on-frame truck construction, with a ladder-type frame plus tubular cross members for better torsional stiffness and tapered frame rails for safety. Steering is via a recirculating-ball gear. In all Savana vans, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with dynamic rear proportioning adapt to loads and provide secure stops.
